Our Story, And We’re Stickin’ To It!
There was a time when the surrounding terrain wasn’t the only thing rocky in these parts. The span we now call Bruton Smith Boulevard (Speedway Boulevard) was wooded, rugged and clouded by dust stretching all the way to nearby Harrisburg. The wild rides of boot legging legends and the course they burned to a quiet retirement were teeth-rattlin’ escapades. Running moonshine, searching for the “Queen’s” golden nuggets and engineering big horse-powered engines left early settlers longing for a retreat.
Escaping to a quiet and peaceful place is a timeless endeavor, hence, our Golf Resort & Spa. Back in the day, a hole-in-one meant something a little different and “Gentlemen, start your engines!” sounded more like “Junior (we aren’t sayin’ which Junior they were referring to), fire it up! Here come the coppers!” — the good ol’ boys discovered a secluded place to hide, to brainstorm, to distill moonshine and run it to nearby buyers.
These days, of course, things are different. Folks now mostly obey the law and have even come up with a few new ones. Weddings and celebrations, more likely than not, take place without fear of being raided by the police. We offer a much nicer retreat than the dark skies and rocky beds along Rocky River Golf Course. The manicured greens are now a beautiful spot for recreation and law-abiding competitions on the greens. However, some similarities still keep the memories alive.
Racing is a way of life and authentic racing machines are on view on the property every day. Many drivers and their crews stay here, and a multitude of enthusiastic fans have come to think of us as a second home. Shopping enthusiasts will have struck it rich with the bargains at Concord Mills Mall, and everyone has access to a haven of serenity at luxurious Spa Botanica.
Our lounge operates strictly per code, but you can always find some moonshine — just ask! As for a distillery and late night runs, guests have mentioned hearing the rumble of engines and the laughter of men late into the night. All we know is that the Embassy Suites Charlotte-Concord/Golf Resort & Spa was made by legends, and our commitment to service is just as legendary.
